The line graph gives data on how many people visited three different places – the coast, the mountains and the lakes – in Europe from other countries between 1987 and 2007.
Overall, the number of overseas visitors coming to all three areas witnessed upward trends over the period, with the most marked rise being recorded by visitors to the lakes. Also, relatively more people came to the coast compared to the other two both at the beginning and at the end of the period, despite a high of the lakes in 2002.
In 1987, the coast was the most popular European destination in the list. 40 million people from overseas visited this area in the initial year, a figure which was followed by a slight fall in 1992. However, the following years turned out to be quite positive for this number, with the tourist flow growing significantly to a massive 75 million in 2007.
Regarding the mountains, we can only see an increasing dynamic. Starting off at 20 million, the number of overseas visitors to these areas had risen moderately to 30 million by 1997. After a period of stability until 2002, there was another growth, albeit less noticeable, to around 33% in 2007.
The most dramatic growth was observed in the case of the lakes. Although only 10 million people visited to the lakes from overseas initially, this figure then skyrocketed to 40 million in 1997. Another steeper rise was still yet to come to reach 75 million in 2002, but it declined a little by the end.

A man saw a snake being burned to death and decided to take it out of the fire. When he did, the snake bit him causing excruciating pain. The man dropped the snake, and the reptile fell right back into the fire.
So, the man looked around and found a metal pole and used it to take the snake out of the fire, saving its life.
Someone who was watching approached the man and said: “That snake bit you. Why are you still trying to save it?”
The man replied: “The nature of the snake is to bite, but that's not going to change my nature, which is to help.”
Do not change your nature simply because someone harms you. Do not lose your good heart, but learn to take precautions.
