DISCUSSION OF MOD JULY 2022

“Tranditional jobs in still relevant in modern society” express your opinion.


1. THIS IS A DISCURSIVE ESSAY. (must share unbiased opinion on the issue, talk about both positive and negative view but DO NOT INCLUDE A STAND)

2. Think of a way to introduce the topic. For example use a question to start: what is a traditional job? Is it needed in today’s society?


3. Think of points. BRAINSTORM POINTS

POSITIVE POINTS : 1) we still need human labour ( farming, paddy field, rubber tapper, fisherman)
2) midwife ( still relevant until today, still needed and modernised

Negative points : 1) takes up too much time and can use machinery to help facilitate the job. (factory workers)
2) some jobs are irrelevant today ( typist, blacksmith)


4. Conclude with a recommendation. Talk about how u can modernised certain jobs and how it’s good for the younger generation to be exposed to the different job scope.

It has come to my attention that there are many versions of defining the MUET CEFR-Aligned DISCURSIVE ESSAY. On the internet, there are SO MANY definitions!
However, based on MPM expectations, the definition stated in many places about DISCURSIVE ESSAY having to keep neutral is NOT ACCURATE.

In reality, according to current MPM expectations, please understand that you are supposed to GIVE YOUR OPINION.
Kindly refer to updated reference books like MUET-Test Focused, ACE MUET which give more accurate examples for DISCURIVE ESSAYs.
