We are less than 7 weeks away from the midterms, and the Senate have no plans of passing the SAVE America Act before they go on recess for midterm campaigning on October 5th.

If the 2026 election is going to be secure, Trump will have to do it via the Executive route.

Julian Assange has returned to public attention, posting “I’m back” on X after roughly eight years without personally posting, while Stella Assange teased “more news next week.”

His return is reopening old battles surrounding WikiLeaks, including one explosive sentence attributed to Hillary Clinton:

THE HILLARY CLINTON–ASSANGE ALLEGATION

The words were attributed to Clinton in a 2016 report citing anonymous State Department sources, which claimed the remark was made during a 2010 meeting as Washington struggled with WikiLeaks’ publication of U.S. diplomatic cables.

According to the report, senior officials were considering ways to stop, slow or contain WikiLeaks when Clinton allegedly asked whether Assange could simply be targeted by drone.

Clinton later said she did not recall making the remark and added that, if she had said it, it would have been a joke.

That answer did little to kill the controversy.
Ten years later, the line is alive again.

Years later, the controversy became even darker.

In 2021, Yahoo News published an investigation based on interviews with more than 30 former U.S. officials, reporting that after WikiLeaks released the Vault 7 files, CIA officials discussed plans to kidnap Assange from the Ecuadorian Embassy in London.

Some senior officials also requested options involving killing him, although those assassination discussions ultimately went nowhere.

The CIA episode occurred years after the Clinton allegation and under a different administration. But together they reveal how seriously powerful elements inside the American national-security establishment viewed WikiLeaks.

WHY ASSANGE TERRIFIED THE ESTABLISHMENT

Assange’s threat was never military.
It was information.

WikiLeaks published diplomatic communications, war records, intelligence documents and internal assessments governments did not want citizens to see.

Assange was dangerous to institutions built around secrecy because he could publish the receipts.

There is still no independent public record establishing that Hillary Clinton definitely spoke those exact words in 2010.

Assange survived the embassy, Belmarsh prison, the extradition battle and the immense machinery of the U.S. national-security system.

Today he is free.

And the deeper question remains what the entire Assange saga revealed about government secrecy, intelligence power, political embarrassment and the lengths institutions may contemplate when someone threatens their control over information.

The administration wanted states to provide lists of mail-ballot recipients and use USPS-approved envelopes with unique barcodes. Lower courts blocked the rule, and the Supreme Court left those injunctions in place.

Samuel Alito and Clarence Thomas dissented. Brett Kavanaugh wrote separately that USPS may ultimately have a legitimate legal argument, but election officials lacked enough time to implement the changes before the 2026 elections.

The split inside the conservative-majority Court was real and it happened weeks before Americans vote.

TRUMP TURNS HIS FIRE ON THE COURT

Trump publicly criticized the Court following the defeat, including justices he selected during his first administration.

Trump appointed Neil Gorsuch, Brett Kavanaugh and Amy Coney Barrett, yet only Alito and Thomas completely sided with the administration in the mail-ballot dispute.

Trump later complained that justices responsible for several defeats were not the people he believed he had interviewed and nominated, while attacking rulings involving mail voting, tariffs and birthright citizenship.

On June 30, 2026, the Supreme Court decided Trump v. Barbara, rejecting the administration’s attempt to exclude certain U.S.-born children from citizenship under the Fourteenth Amendment.

John Roberts wrote the opinion and Amy Coney Barrett joined him, alongside Sonia Sotomayor, Elena Kagan and Ketanji Brown Jackson.

The Court held that children born in the United States to parents unlawfully or temporarily present remain citizens at birth under the Citizenship Clause — a major defeat for Trump’s immigration agenda.
