In a detailed plan published by Iran's IRGC affiliated Tasnim news agency, within hours after coming under attack from the US, Iran will launch ballistic missile barrages and drones at US military Installations across the region, expanding the battlefield beyond its borders.
Tehran also believes their cyber warfare capabilities could disrupt US logistics, complicate command and control and sow chaos among the allied countries hosting US forces
The IRGC naval forces have also planned and practiced swarming attacks with small, rocket- and torpedo-armed boats to overwhelm larger warships. Blocking the strait of Hormuz (as Iran has openly threatened to) could raise oil prices above $200 a barrel, causing major global economic damage and pressuring the US to retreat.
Hossein Shariatmadari, a representative of Iran’s supreme leader, warned that Iran could block US, French, British and German vessels from the Strait of Hormuz.
Iran hopes to create an unsustainable multi- front situation for the US military, fighting simultaneously against entrenched proxies in Lebanon, Yemen, Iraq and potentially Syria, while defending Gulf allies and maintaining open shipping lanes, would strain even US military resources.
