Reports circulating on Chinese social media claim that following the purge of senior PLA General Zhang Youxia, unusual military movements have been observed near Beijing, including videos from 26 January 2026 showing PLA vehicles in Wuqing District, Tianjin—around 40–50 km from the capital.

The same claims allege that the PLA’s General Staff command system has been temporarily suspended, with direct control shifting to the Central Military Commission via coded communications.

According to these reports, all PLA units have entered first-level combat readiness, movements have been frozen, and personnel ordered to surrender mobile phones and undergo centralized political study.
