Malachi 4:1

4 For, behold, a day comes burning as an oven, and it shall consume them; and all the aliens, and all that do wickedly, shall be stubble: and the day that is coming shall set them on fire, saith the Lord Almighty, and there shall not be left of them root or branch.
"Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God." Philippians 4:6

Happy Feast Day of St. Nicholas!
St. Nicholas, pray for us!
At Vatican II, in the very first sessions, the senior Cardinal Ottaviani was making a speech defending the original documents prepared for Vatican II, when the liberal bishops shut his microphone off, laughed and booed him off session.

Crossing the Moluccas Sea, Saint Francis Xavier dipped his crucifix in it, to calm a storm.

However, the sea water broke the cord and the crucifix was lost to the ocean.

Saint Francis was struck with sadness, as it was his favorite crucifix, the one that accompanied him in his many voyages, given by Saint Ignatius of Loyola.

They arrived at the island, and while the crew helped him gather his baggage, a big crab crawled out of the water with the crucifix in its claws, deposited in the sand near Saint Francis and then went back to the sea.

The whole crew saw that, and a sailor named Fausto Rodrigues would always remark how eternally grateful he was to God for letting him experience such miracle first-hand. Saint Francis then forbade everyone to talk about what happened as to not harm the true purpose of his catechetical mission in the Moluccas.

Living as an Evangelical all those years, I was taught that if God didn't answer my prayers, it wasn't His will. I was bewildered by this belief because the Bible says to ask and it will be given to you.

🚪The door slammed behind me as I left the faith, tired of all the circular reasoning.

📖 A window opened, and a calm voice said, "you must labor in prayer."

Not necessarily in those words or in that way, but metaphorically, it's how I came to this understanding. Since then, God has answered my prayers when I fasted and spent time in prayer instead. Not only did He answer me, He went beyond what I asked and did it in such a way that I could not deny that it was His doing.

I believe you have to nag God, and you have to prove to him that you are dependent upon him. In Romans 15:30, Paul says to strive [or labor] in prayer with him, in Colossians 4:12, he says Epaphras strived [or labors] in prayer for them, in 1 Thessalonians 3:10, Paul says to pray exceedingly day and night, and on and on...

People stop believing in God because they never made the effort to labor in the spirit and receive God's blessings, which is answers to prayer in this case. No one ever taught them this. They think because grace is given freely through Christ's sacrifice for the atonement of their sin upon their acceptance of him that nothing else requires work, but even Paul said he suffered in Christ and labored for the church. Nothing came easy to any of the Disciples, Apostles, or even Jesus. The Bible says we are in a spiritual battle, and no battle was ever won without hard work.
