He was His servant and left everything to serve Him, he was enflamed by true Christian zeal and preached the truth of the gospel, yet he was rejected because of mere human respect, let's not make ourselves lukewarm from human respect, and if we must go against the world for Christ our Lord, let's be willing to sacrifice ourselves for Him who deigned Himself to become man and sacrifice Himself for His love of humanity, He has loved us before we even existed and suffered such great torments for our salvation, let's not reject His and instead, let's embrace the crosses we have been given to console our Lord in His afflictions, let's follow the good example of St. Valentine, presbyter and martyr of Christ.
