Man is spiritually bound to his land by the immutable effect of love, and will rise against those who threaten to forcibly sever that bond. It is required of him then that he must hate, as hate is the negation of love.
Here’s a selection of quotes of reactions on the part of the Catholic hierarchy to Salazar’s - Devout Catholic, Fascist leader of Portugal until the late 1970’s - nomination to President of the Council of Ministers in 1932.
Which some even warned about the rising force of communism.
