🇫🇷🔥 CHURCH BURNED IN LILLE

👉🏻 In the African neighborhood of Wazemmes in Lille (Northern France), the church of Saint Peter burned for several hours.

🔎 For now, the cause of the fire is unknown. But an accident seems unlikely since the church had been renovated a few months ago.

📌 From certain sources, it was confirmed that the fire started in the sacristy, where the holy books are kept.

ℹ️ Note : a few days ago, we covered the burning of another church in Normandy, exactly 2 years after Notre-Dame.

🤵🏻‍♂️Today we have a lesson on Modesty and the blindness of modern women with Fr. Taouk, so make sure to listen carefully!

🧍🏼‍♀️👙 "Women often deny that their semi-nude attire is the source of numerous and serious temptations to the opposite sex. Some reject any responsibility for leading others into sin. Others try to cover their own guilt by such statements as: "He must have a dirty mind. Scanty attire in men doesn't affect me at all. Why should men be tempted by the scanty attire of women?" When a woman is dressed immodestly, she becomes the temptress for men. Remember Our Lord's words to men who fall prey to such allurements: "Whoever shall look on a woman to lust after her hath already committed adultery with her in his heart." (Matt. 5:28)

👯‍♀️ Indirectly, immodest woman are included in this indictment, being cooperators with the sins of men. God has made woman beautiful and attractive to men so as to fit with His plan for procreation in lawful wedlock. As a result of Original sin, mankind must constantly struggle to regulate this attraction. Unless both men and women fortify themselves by prayer, sin quickly enters their immortal souls.

💃 Many women will say they wear the modern fashions because they are more comfortable, and the weather is hot (Remember, it is very hot in Hell).

🎾 This brings us to the area of sports. Regretably, all too many sports are taboo for us Catholics, not that they are in themselves a sin or a near occasion of sin, but because of the skimpy attire that such sports "require".

🤽‍♀️🤸‍♀️ Think of these sports and the clothes people usually wear when playing the following sports or activities: swimming, baton twirling, tennis, basketball, dancing (disco dancing and little girls who take dancing lessons) and gymnastics.

🏊‍♀️🩱Let us tak swimming for an example, since people usually wear less clothes when swimming than any other sport. Swimsuits have no sleeves, have very low necklines, no coverings for the legs and usually has the whole back exposed.

✝️ When we think of the saying, "in proportion to the amount of flesh exposed mortal sin seems to increase", shouldn't we avoid the bathing suits like the plaque? Do you think this suggestion is crazy? You say yes, then let us ask another question. Do you prefer to have the mortal sin of immodesty on your soul and the untold number of mortal sins of your being a temptress or tempter and causing others to sin?

🤔 What is the solution then?

Here Fr. Taouk says very wisely, offering us a great solution:

“Many people lament the terrible state of immorality that is prevalent in our society, wondering what can be done about it. Among other things such as praying the rosary daily and reading the Holy Bible and the lives of the saints we can promote modesty by burning bathing suits and shorts and converting pants into decent skirts. Let us always keep in mind that the ultimate success is gaining heaven and nothing else really matters.”

Deep loneliness, wanting to escape or fleeing in exile are feelings we will all have throughout our lives (certainly exasperated in this horror clown world).

Sadly these feelings tend to linger no matter what age, relationship status and who you have in your life.

The antidote to bone crunching despair is Christ, when he is with you tend you to never feel alone.

He is a ray of light in all of our darkness, so up you get, it’s cold out.

THE DEVIL HATES LATIN

It is said that "the devil hates Latin", since the language was canonized on the Cross and it unifies the Church. One of the Roman Catholic Church's leading experts on exorcism has said: "If I speak Latin, the demon responds to me in Latin. He has a horror of that language." On the diabolical possession of then Mariam Baouardy, now St. Mary of Jesus Crucified, the exorcists forced Satan to speak in Latin. Satan said, "This damn language makes me suffer too much; it is against me."

Many ask why the devil hates Latin and why it is used in exorcisms and has power over the devil. The answer is that ecclesiastical Latin is a sacred language that was reserved only for the divine service of the Catholic Church, in prayer and in the Sacraments.

Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI urged Catholics around the world to memorize the most common Catholic prayers in Latin.

Here are some of the basic Catholic prayers in Latin you may want to memorize:

-Sign of the Cross-
In nomine Patris, et Filii, et Spiritus Sancti. Amen

-Apostles' Creed-
Credo in Deum Patrem omnipotentem, Creatorem caeli et terrae. Christian Meditation is a form of contemplative prayer, when you focus your attention on a particular event, virtue, or teaching, and weigh it in your mind and heart, to grow in love and appreciation and therefore draw nearer to oneness with God. The goal is to discover your own position relative to the thing you are meditating on - how close are you to this event, how firmly to you grasp this virtue, how perfectly do you live this teaching, etc. It differs from a self-examination though because you do this with the goal of inviting grace and draw out of the meditation an improved practice.

"2 But his will is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he shall meditate day and night.  3 And he shall be like a tree which is planted near the running waters, which shall bring  forth its fruit, in due season.  And his leaf shall not fall off: and all whatsoever he shall do shall prosper."  Psalm 1:2-3

Unlike Oriental / Modern meditation, which seeks emptiness as a means of self-annihilation, the Catholic meditates to prepare your Soul for God to fill it. Your goal in meditation is not the elimination of yourself, but perfection by the destruction of vice, the acquisition of virtue, and a spiritual practice which enhances these things.

Swan of The Reformation

The year is 1415, St. John Hus was proclaimed a heretic for speaking out against the Roman Church's promotion of indulgances and the Papacy. It is rumored that while he was burning, he cried out with a prophesy "You may cook this Goose(Hus), but in a hundred years there is a Swan you won't be able to cook!".

Moving forward to the year 1483, a little boy was born in Germany to Hans and Margarethe Luther. He was baptized the next morning on the feast day of St. Martin of Tours. Martin was brought up by his ambitious father to become a lawyer, so was sent to Latin schools to learn "trivium", which comprised logic, grammar, and rhetoric. Luther would describe this time period as "purgatory" and "hell".

In 1501 young Martin was accepted to the University of Erfurt, at the age of 17. He later described the institution as a "whorehouse", and expressed that the experience was that of "Days of rote learning, and often wearying spiritual exercises". He recieved his degree 1505. Contrary to his father's wishes, Martin soon dropped out of law and instead pursued philosophy and theology, as he viewed them as answers to find assurence in life, learning from such figures as Aristotle, St. Ockham, and Gabriel Biel.

 2 July 1505, while Luther was returning to university on horseback after a trip home, a lightning bolt struck near him during a thunderstorm. Later telling his father he was terrified of death and divine judgment, he cried out, "Help! Saint Anna, I will become a monk!" He came to view his cry for help as a vow he could never break. He left university, sold his books, and became and joined the Augustinian Order.

Luther devoted dedicated hours to prayers, fasting, pilgramages, frequent confessions. Luther described this period of his life as one of deep spiritual despair. He said, "I lost touch with Christ the Savior and Comforter, and made of him the jailer and hangman of my poor soul."

Johann Von Staupitz, Luther's superior and confessor, pointed his mind away from continual reflection of sins and instead taught that true repentance does not involve self-inflicted penances and punishments but rather a change of heart. April 1507, Jerome Schultz, Bishop of Brandenburg, ordained Luther to Erfurt Cathedral. 1508, Staupitz sent Luther to teach theology, after recieving bacher degree in Biblical studies. He was sent on a mission to Rome, and the experience left a negative impression as he found in Rome a "lack of spirituality at the very heart of Western Christendom".

In 1512, he was awarded Doctor of Theology, and in same year was received into the senate of the theological faculty of the University of Wittenberg, having succeeded his mentor Von Staupitz as chair of theology.
