Nothing has ever fascinated me more pertaining to theology/metaphysics/ philosophy than Aquinas’ thought. There is just something about it man... I can’t even describe it really. I’m sure Garrigou-Lagrange would’ve felt this way too.

Was just thinking about it, and... imagine if Fr. Gregory Pine debated Jay Dyer, or people like David Bradshaw and Father Patrick on the Flilioque, ADS, or on Grace and the Essence Energies distinction. Lol.

Many of his converts became priests, leaders to the nascent Christian community. Wealthy women converted and became nuns in the face of family opposition. The sons of kings were converted. Patrick had this to say on the Irish:
Never before did they know of God except to serve idols and unclean things. But now they have become the people of the Lord, and are called children of God. The sons and daughters of the leaders of the Irish are seen to be monks and virgins of Christ!
Because of his refusal to accept gifts from kings, Patrick was often ostracised from Irish society, without legal protection and was at least once beaten and robbed of all he had, placed in chains and awaited execution.

Today is the Feast of St. Patrick (Pátraic in Old Irish, Pádraig in Modern Irish, Pàdraig in Scottish Gaelic, Padrig in Welsh, Petroc in Cornish), patron saint of Ireland, Nigeria, Montserrat, Clann Giolla Phádraig, as well as several Archdioceses.
Born near modern Carlisle in Roman Britain as the son of Calpurnius, deacon, Patrick was not an active believer in his youth. At 16, he was captured by a group of Irish pirates who enslaved him for six years. He wrote in his Confessions that being enslaved was crucially important to his spiritual development - God having great mercy on his ignorance as an adolescent and offering him the chance to be forgiven of his sins and convert. He prayed ceaselessly during his captivity and this solidified his relationship with God.
After his 6 years, a voice told him he would be back in his homeland soon. His ship was ready immediately, and he departed from his master to travel to a port some 200 miles away.

He was taken back to Roman Britain and upon landing walked for 28 days in the wilderness with his companions from the ship, hungry. Patrick prayed to the Lord for relief from their suffering; afterwards they encountered a herd of wild boar. The group had been beseeched by Patrick to put their faith in the Lord - this strengthened their fledgling belief.
He continued studying Christianity, and had a vision a few years after coming home. A man named Victoricus carrying lots of letters appeared to him, giving him one of these. The Voice of Irish was brandished across the top of it - he could hear the people near the old forest of Focluth begging him: "We appeal to you, holy servant boy, to come and walk among us."
Upon this Patrick studied in Auxerre, where St. Germanus, bishop, ordained him a priest. Immediately after he returned to Ireland as a missionary. He baptised thousands, and rejected worldly goods, returning gifts he received for baptisms and priestly ordinations, often giving gifts to Irish kings.
