According to the British historian Henry Chadwick, “Christianity seems to have been especially successful among women. It was often through the wives that it penetrated the upper classes of society in the first instance”, and this upper class female Christians “could influence their husbands to protect the church”.
A great example is Marcia, concubine of the emperor Commodus, who managed to convince him to free Callistus, a future pope, from a sentence of hard labor in the mines of Sardinia. Even though Marcia failed to convert Commodus, other upper-class women often did bring their husbands and admirers to faith. Usually these conversions were divided in either primary or secondary conversions.

In primary conversion, the convert takes an active role in his or her own conversion, becoming a committed adherent based on the particular faith.
Secondary conversion consists in a reluctant acceptance of a faith on the basis of attachments to a primary convert.
For example, after the active conversion of person A, that person’s spouse agreed to “go along '' with the choice, but was not rager to do so and very likely would not have done so anyways. When upper-class wives converted, usually their husbands became secondary converts. In the ladder of a big household, everyone, including servants and slaves, were expected to do so.

A major aspect of women’s improved status in the Christian subculture is that Christians did not condone female infanticide unlike the Athenians. Granted, this was the result of the prohibition of all infanticide. But the more favorable Christian view of women is also demonstrated in their condemnation of divorce, incest, marital infidelity, and polygamy, including the practice of orgies and fornication inside and outside the marriage.
Just like Pagans, early Christians prized female chastity, but unlike pagans they rejected the double standard that gave pagan men so much sexual license, and Christian men were urged to remains virgins until marriage and extramarital sex was condemned as adultery.

Unlike their Pagan peers, that were pressured to remarry if they became widows and even Augustus fined widows that failed to remarry within two years (without mentioning that, a marriage made them lost any inherent richness provided by their husbands and became the new property of her husband), among Christians, widowhood was highly respected and marriage was mildly discouraged. Christian Widows were enabled to keep their husband’s estate, and the Church supported poor widows, allowing them a choice as to whether or not remarry.
A letter of Cornelius, bishop of Rome in 251, to Bishop Fabius of Antioch, reported that “more than fifteen hundred widows and distressed persons” were in the care of the local congregation, which may have included about 30,000 members at this time.

1179: The Third Lateran Council opens at Rome. At the end of the meeting the council would adopt the following as matters of canon law: “jews should be slaves to Christians and at the same time treated kindly due of humanitarian considerations.”
And
”The testimony of Christians against jews is to be preferred in all causes where they use their own witnesses against Christians.“

This guy never fails to give the most garbage, dumbfounded, baseless takes on Vatican II. Guess having a Doctorate doesn’t actually mean you know what you’re talking about.

Michael should debate an SSPX Priest. I’m sure he wouldn’t though, since it would be very embarrassing on his end.
