From catcalls to murder: What female joggers face on every run, Ritu Prasad BBC News
On 21 August, 600 miles away, a young man had led police to the body of Mollie Tibbetts, 20, lying in a corn field, days after she too set off on a run. This summer's tragedy echoes that of August 2016, when the murders of three female joggers spanned just nine days.
The 2017 survey revealed that 43% of women experienced harassment while running - with the number rising to 58% for women under 30. Just 4% of men reported the same. The poll also found 30% of women said they had been followed by a harasser on foot, by car or bike. And the vast majority of women said these fears led them to change their habits - to run only during the day, to change their routes, to carry pepper spray or - in the case of 1% of women - to carry a loaded gun.
"Even if a man is just whistling to you or just saying something, you never know how far that may go - and what it could escalate to," Ms Kearl says.
Self-defence for runners
Katalin Rodriguez Ogren, owner of POW Gym in Chicago, teaches self-defense classes targeted at runners. Her tips include:
-Be aware of any individuals in your immediate vicinity
-Pay attention to body language signals like eye contact and stance
-Don't wear headphones when you might be alone or in a secluded area
-Practice getting off the ground as quickly as possible
-Take boxing or Muay Thai courses for the best set of applicable skills

In a Nursery School, there's a basket of apples with a notice written over it :
"Do not take more than one, God is watching"
On the other counter there's a box of chocolates,
A small child went & wrote on it.
"Take as many as you want, God is busy watching the apples"...
ππ
KID: Why some of your hairs are white dad...?
DAD: Every time you make me unhappy , one of my hair turns whiteβ¦
KID: Now I understand why grandpaβs hairs are all white.
ππ
Teacher: How old is your father?
Kid: He is 6 years.
Teacher: What? How is this possible?
Kid: He became father only when I was born.

The Drive to Keep Growing Emotionally
We know well enough that we are equipped with an innate drive for physical growth; that the human animal is geared to keep developing towards its outward mature form, adding muscle and bone and fatty tissue, in a spontaneous process of development that begins in our earliest days in the womb and ends around our sixteenth year.
What is less obvious is that we are marked by an equally innate, equally powerful, although here life-long, drive towards emotional growth. Without anything mystical being meant by this, unless we are impeded by internal or external obstacles, we are set on an ineluctable path towards emotional development.
An obvious conceptual difference between the two drives is that we can know easily enough what it means to be fully grown physically, but it is rather harder to pin down what equivalent emotional maturity might look like.
