No new details or images of Android's enhanced desktop windowing capabilities were revealed at I/O, with Google only showing a screenshot of how it looks on tablets already. But I showed some of these improvements off earlier this month.

Google has formally announced the new ML Kit GenAI APIs at I/O 2025!

They also showed off how an accessibility app called Envision is leveraging this API to quickly generate summaries of scanned documents, all on device.

Using AI, you can now create an Android Bot version of yourself!

Google made a new Androidify app that takes a photo of a person, generates a description using Gemini 2.5 Flash, then generates an image of an Android bot using the Imagen 3 text-to-image model.

The only problem? You'll have to compile it yourself and provide your own API keys to access Google's AI models.

IMO this is a missed opportunity from Google. This is something they should release on Google Play and not just as a sample for developers! Can imagine folks having a lot of fun with this and sharing their custom Bots😁

The blog post does say that the version of the app that uses the "fine-tuned" Imagen 3 model will be "released later this year," but it doesn't specify whether it'll released as a compiled version for users on Google Play or just as another sample. Would be nice to know!

🔕Rejoice! The Android 16 QPR1 beta makes it easier to toggle Do Not Disturb mode.

Thanks to the new Quick Settings design, you no longer need to expand the Modes tile to toggle Do Not Disturb mode.
