I'm a day behind, apparently. I stated the wrong day, but not the wrong date. Please use this alert as corrected.
Some updates and urgent action for today:
HB 201 moved to the House Floor for vote. This bill will allow the installation of automated speed enforcement equipment on Kentucky's highways. Please call your Rep and tell them to OPPOSE this bill.
HB 373 is up for House Floor vote Thursday. This went from a relatively innocuous bill to a very nasty bill while in Committee. CS1 would modify the arrest powers of the Constitutionally elected Sheriff. We need to protect our Constitutional Law Enforcement. They are our only elected LEOs. Please call your Rep to OPPOSE this very bad bill.
SB 81 with SFA 2 passed the Senate and moves to the House where it will be assigned to the House Education Committee. This bill was previously listed as bad, but with SFA 2, it is a good bill for both KDE certified private schools, non-certified schools and homeschools. Please call your House Rep and the House Education Committee to SUPPORT this bill as amended.
See the Alert for more actions from Wednesday.
ACTION: GO TO THE CAPITOL TODAY! HB 470 to protect children from gender transition "services" will be heard in Committee today (Thur, 3/2) at Noon in Room 171 of the Capitol Annex. The alphabet crowds will be there to protest so please show up by 11 to get a seat and support this good bill.

Special end of session legislative alert (No Attachments):
Legislative Hotline Number: 1-800-372-7181
****HB470 is a good bill to prevent healthcare professionals from providing transitioning services to minors. It was a good bill as it was submitted but it has had Senate floor amendments added that strip it of its ability to protect minors. Please call your Senator and tell them to SUPPORT HB470 WITHOUT AMENDMENTS.
****SB64 is a complicated and broad bill that has a lot of bad provisions, some of which pave the way for Central Bank Digital Currencies and banning other viable forms of exchange such as private cryptos. Please call the House Judiciary Committee and your Representative to OPPOSE SB64.
This is a last push before the session ends so please take the time to call about both these bills as early as you can on Wednesday morning.
