Why hasn't Mojang ever added an endgame feature to allow players to prevent mobs from spawning within a certain radius?
To be clear I'm not sure what it could be. Some sort of new beacon effect. Loot from a new megastructure (certainly would've made Ruined Cities more enticing lol). Part of whatever End update they do in the future. But it feels like such a no-brainer way to incentivise players to engage with new high-end content, especially if it's a case of the resource being limited and means players would want to go back over and over if they want to make their own megabases or whatever.
Being able to use darkness in your builds for an ominous effect, disguising the size of something, or just look natural is something that's been missing from Survival builds for... well, literally forever. There are very limited methods to circumvent it (building on Mushroom Islands, using transparent/non-full size blocks), but of course, one prevents you from making anything super big in size and the other limits your block palette when it comes to flooring heavily and can't be used in outdoor spaces without looking weird.
Why do you think they've never touched it? Wanting to save whatever little challenge is left of Minecraft survival (especially post-enchants and Elytra and whatnot)? Saving it as a 'break in case of emergency we can't think of anything good for an update'? Something else?
