Any way to make minecraft mods that arent so tedious?
For context, I tried getting into minecraft modding a few times over the years, as i love to make modpacks and really want to make a mod or two of my own , but every time i try, im just baffled at how tedious and over complicated it is. I come from a computer science background, and i was honestly shocked when i found that seemingly the only well documented and reliable way to make a minecraft mod is by installing some 10 gigabyte IDE and using like 2-4 external tools minimum just for boilerplate, not to mention all the stuff you need to learn regarding those tools and the setup for a mod before you can even do your first hello world.
why is it so complex? is there any way i can do it without an IDE? how is it unironically easier to make a from scratch C software renderer than it is to make a minecraft mod without using 6 bloated external pieces of software? given that minecraft is written in java, and to my knowledge java is a JIT language (thus can be interpreted alongside compilation), im surprised i cant just write scripts to be injected into the game during runtime a la teardown modding.
TL;DR, why cant i just write "fogintensity = 5" or some shit into a java script and have it injected into the game if its written in java? any way i can make a mod without gradle? why do i need all these tools? IDE-less mod development?

Cozy Modpack Recommendation?
What's your favorite modpack to play with friends that don't play minecraft that often and are cozy kitchensink style? The girls like to make food and cute stuff
We are trying Homestead and wanted to know other people's opinions.

Is "GregTech: New Horizons" really that hard?
I've heard some people say that GT:NH was something "hardcore" and "not recommended for starters".
I have little experience with tech mods apart from Create, is it easy to understand the progression of the modpack, without knowing most of the mods in it?

Is it only me or the modrinth app is getting worse and worse each update
there was a time where modrinth app was really nice and had some cool features that I wish curseforge app had, but nowadays it seems like the curseforge app is like 1000% better than modrinth app.
I still use both of them, but modrinth ui has gotten so much worse recently, like how they removed different pages of mods from modpacks, I liked that, and how you need to do a double click for mod you want to update, although this last one isn't all that bad it would be better having the option to turn it off, sometimes you have like 40 mods you need to update and other 15 that you can't update because it would break the modpack, then you need to either update 40 mods manually or click update all and change 15 mods that you can't update back to the working versions.
also the new UI is kinda ugly, curseforge UI is ugly too but modrinth app used to have a better looking UI.
so, what do you guys think? personally I don't think it's extremely bad, but I still think modrinth app got a downgrade.

Is Alex's Mobs really that bad performance-wise?
I’ve seen a lot of modpacks without Alex’s Mobs that use Naturalist Lite and/or Critters and Companions instead.
Is Alex’s Mobs really that bad performance-wise? I’ve read a few complaints about whales breaking blocks, but you can just disable that or turn off their spawning entirely.
