Mod packs without the create mod

I’m looking for a good mod pack that doesn’t have the create mod or any tech mods in general. Sorry I just don’t care for create and I hate having to do so much stuff for ore and other materials. A mod pack with good general exploration and collecting stuff is more what I like. Dimensions are fine. I prefer big packs as well.

The 1.12.2 era... ¿forever?

The main reason to play on later versions of Minecraft is the technological upgrade: better performance, inner dynamics, native systems and newer Java. However, 1.12.2 now has Cleanroom, which allows to play on the most recent Java versions, currently Java 25, thus improving performance tremendously.

The second reason is the collective adoption which occurs when modders develop new, interesting mods (like Create); classic mods update or players get satisfied with the offer. For the 1.12.2 spectrum of mods, most of them have stayed back in time since their developers have transitioned to 1.18 or 1.20 or abadonned the projects. Nonetheless, a phenomenon occurred: the «community editions» with unofficial, extended support from new modders keep these mods up to date with their official releases from latest Minecraft versions. Applied Energistics, Mekanism, Tinker's Antique and Had Enough Items are some of these.

A third reason is modpacks. If 1.7.10 is too relevant for its age, it is due to GregTech New Horizons team backporting mods and functions. 1.12.2 is following the same path: big modpacks like Meatball Craft use community edition mods with capability to implement Cleanroom from the start.

Additionally, the new Minecraft style always averses players: 1.18+ changes in functionalities, items, mobs and mechanics feel like the mandatory, awful version of mods that existed for 15 years. 1.12.2 is the last classic Minecraft experience that keeps a base consistency and design which mods expand accordingly.

As a result, everything is adding up to make the 2017 version of Minecraft able to last for longer: We have the technology, the mods, the community, the updates and the style. So, why change? Maybe two reasons: alternatives to Optifine for shaders and Create. Yet it is a matter of time someone ports Create and Iris back to 1.12.2. Who knows? Maybe Cleanroom developers find a way for that. Time will tell.
