🎬: Movie 10/1200
🎞️: “The Departed” (2006)
🎥: Directed by Martin Scorsese
📍: SS
📅: June 20, 2026
🔁: 2nd watch
⏳: 2h 31m
💬: It’s the type of movie that makes everything else feel boring while watching it. From the very first minute until around 3/4 of the movie, it completely pulls you in — and then there’s a reason why it’s in IMDb’s top 50: Martin hits you with 5–6 plot twists back to back near the end.
I really enjoyed the cinematography being used here. It also felt somewhat similar to Breaking Bad (despite being a show), mainly because of the tension, constant pressure, and how every move feels connected to something bigger.
I’d also say the movie felt more Kubrick-style to me — with so many things pointing toward higher games being played behind the scenes: influence, politics, people being raised without competition, and getting promoted dramatically fast into positions.
Unfiltered opinion, but there’s also that conspiracy around Epstein being promoted quickly into higher circles by Jews. The movie almost reflects that same idea of unseen forces moving people upward, just in a much lower-stakes and more grounded setting compared to the kind of themes Kubrick usually hints at.
🌟: 4.6/5
