π’A Siberian glacier has turned crimson red from algae bloom, raising the likelihood of even faster ice melt than at the current rate triggered by climate change, Russian scientists warned Monday. Red algae covers glaciers in the Altai Mountains near Russiaβs borders with Kazakhstan and Mongolia every year, Tomsk State Universityβs (TSU) Faculty of Geology and Geography said in a statement. But such a large-scale phenomenon has not been observed in more than 10 years, said Alexander Yerofeyev, the head of TSUβs Laboratory of Glacioclimatology. Footage from his recent expedition posted on the universityβs YouTube page showed streaks of red across a large area of the Vodopadny glacier.
πA man was shot and killed during an FBI raid early Wednesday morning in Utah, the FBI confirmed to CBS News. Special agents attempted to serve arrest and search warrants at a residence in Provo at 6:15 a.m. local time when the subject was shot and killed, officials said. Law enforcement sources told CBS News the man engaged the FBI in a gunfight when agents tried to serve a warrant on him. The man allegedly posted threats online against President Biden and others, including Biden's family and former President Obama.
