🎥 While speaking to Al Jazeera on Tuesday, Unrwa Director of Communications Juliette Touma said that Israeli naval gunfire hit a food convoy while it was waiting to move into northern Gaza, where according to her the “highest pockets of starvation and hunger” were identified by the UN.

Touma also pointed out that this was the third time a humanitarian convoy led by by Unrwa was hit.

Israeli allegations that 12 out of the 30,000 employees at the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestinian Refugees (Unrwa) were involved in the attacks by Palestinian fighters on southern Israel on 7 October are still under investigation

🎥 French politician, Alma Dufour, went with UN agents to the Red Crescent warehouse in Rafah in the Gaza Strip on Tuesday. The aid workers explained to her that humanitarian aid, already largely insufficient, enough for five percent of the Palestinians in Gaza’s needs, is partially blocked and bombarded by the Israeli army.

Water filters, emergency medical kits sent by France, and even kids toys are blocked. In the past few days, two humanitarian aid workers of the Red Croissant-Rouge have died and two ambulances have been carried missing, she reported
📰 Argentina’s President Javier Milei announced plans to move the South American country’s embassy to Jerusalem during a visit to Israel where he received a rapturous welcome from Israel’s political leaders.

“I warmly welcome the arrival to Israel of the President of Argentina, Israel’s friend, Javier Milei, who announced the relocation of Argentina’s embassy to Jerusalem. Welcome, dear friend!” Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu wrote on the social media platform X.

In a meeting with Netanyahu on Wednesday, Milei pledged to deepen cooperation with Israel and said he planned to designate Hamas as a terrorist group.

🎥 “This is not war. This is slaughter"

US congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez on Tuesday criticised a proposal for the US to send an additional $17.6 billion in aid to Israel, which was later rejected. Ocasio-Cortez described Israel’s assault on Gaza as “ineffective” and said they were “nowhere close to their stated objective of destroying Hamas”.

In recent months the congresswoman has been criticised by some of her constituents for not being vocal enough about the situation in Gaza and continuing to back US President Joe Biden’s bid for the 2024 presidential election despite his support for Israel

🎥 UK-based group Palestine Action (@pal_action) disrupted Somerset Council's executive meeting, urging them to terminate the lease of a property housing Elbit's Bristol headquarters. Activists claim that despite previous assertions by council leader Bill Revans that the lease cannot be ended, it is not true.

This week, Itochu, a major Japanese firm, announced it is ending its partnership with Israeli defence company Elbit Systems due to Israel's war on Gaza
🗞️ Iraq has reiterated its call to end the US military presence in the country following the death of a high-ranking militia commander in a "unilateral strike” in Baghdad.

The US strike killed at least three people, including senior Kataib Hezbollah commanders Abu Baqir al-Saadi and Arkan al-Alaywi. Video footage of the strike site showed an SUV engulfed in flames.

Wednesday's attack provoked an outcry in Baghdad, with the government again promising to remove US forces from Iraq in response.

"By this act, the American forces jeopardise civil peace, violate Iraqi sovereignty, and disregard the safety and lives of our citizens," Iraqi military spokesman Yahya Rasool said in a statement.

🗞️ France’s former president, Francois Hollande, has called French citizens killed in Gaza “collateral victims”, during an event paying tribute to people killed in Israel on 7 October.

The comments were made on Wednesday during a ceremony in Paris, after a journalist asked whether there was a double standard in the reaction to killings in Israel and in Gaza and whether the latter also deserved a tribute.

In a widely circulated response, Hollande said: “It cannot be the same tribute. A life is a life and one life is equivalent to another but there are victims of terrorism and victims of war. Being a victim of terrorism means being attacked as a French person or as a defender of a way of life. A collateral victim, you are in war… it's not of the same nature.”

The UK Home Office has refused to grant a visa to a Palestinian refugee previously supported by a prestigious British government scheme and now awarded a full scholarship to study for a doctorate at the London School of Economics.

But in a response to her visa application, the Home Office told Ashkar that it had been denied on the grounds that granting it would “harm the public interest”, without giving any further reasons or explanation.

Ashkar’s lawyers said the Home Office’s failure to provide any reason why her visa was denied was “difficult to fathom” and “raises questions as to whether it has been refused because of the relationship between the United Kingdom and another country”

A UK trade union for lecturers, researchers, and academic-related staff in higher education paid tribute to Palestinian academics killed by Israeli bombardment with a commemorative rally at the University of Oxford titled #StandWithGaza.

In addition to a mass march scheduled for 5pm, trades unions, including teachers, academics, healthcare workers and journalists from across Oxford, gathered outside the Radcliffe Camera at 1pm local time for a vigil to mourn the deaths in Gaza and call for an immediate ceasefire.

Dr Teige Matthews-Palmer, a research scientist at Oxford University, said his union recently passed a motion of solidarity with the Palestinian people.

“Education is a pillar of Palestinian culture with a high number of PhD educated citizens,” he said.

🎥 In December 1975, the infamous militant Carlos the Jackal and five other members of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) stormed an Opec meeting in Vienna.

The mission? To kidnap 11 oil ministers, hijack a plane and bring attention to the Palestinian cause on Arab streets.

But things didn’t exactly go to plan and resulted in Carlos being kicked out of the PFLP.

Here’s how it all happened
“It is election day in Pakistan. But in the world’s fifth largest democracy, people are not able to vote for the most popular leader, former Prime Minister Imran Khan, who cannot contest elections after having been disbarred. Khan will spend today - and potentially 14 more years - in jail.

Khan and his party, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), are leading in opinion surveys, but their electoral symbol has been banned, and observers are predicting that the vote will be a fait accompli for former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.

The sad truth is that Pakistan runs under hybrid rule, where the support or opposition of its generals is more important than what voters want."

🎥 “You can’t kill the whole of Gaza!”

Piers Morgan confronted Israeli journalist Emily Schrader on his show on Wednesday about Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s desire to continue the war in Gaza, questioning how many more Palestinians would have to be killed to achieve Israel’s stated goal of destroying Hamas
📰 Former students at a high school in the South African city of Cape Town have raised concerns that the seat of learning is serving as a recruitment tool for the Israeli army.

Three former students at the Herzlia High School told Middle East Eye that faculty, including the school’s principal, along with guest speakers, would often encourage students to enlist in the Israeli army.

While military service is compulsory in Israel, South African law expressly forbids its citizens from fighting for foreign militaries, unless they first apply to a government body and their request is approved by the minister of defence and military veterans.
