📰 A third of elected politicians in Britain’s ruling Conservative Party have received funding from pro-Israel lobby groups, it has emerged.

Declassified reported on Thursday that 126 of the party’s 344 Members of Parliament (MPs) have accepted funding from pro-Israel lobby groups.

The funds amount to over £430,000 in donations and hospitality. The lobby groups have paid for Conservative MPs to visit Israel on 187 occasions, some of which included trips to the occupied Palestinian territories.

Thirteen of those MPs have visited Israel during its ongoing war on Gaza. In January, six MPs went on a "solidarity visit" hosted by Israeli President Isaac Herzog.

“For 76 years, Israel had a narrative more robust as a protective shield than any Iron Dome.

For the victims of the worst case of industrial killing in modern history, self-determination for post-Holocaust Jewry was not just a necessity, this narrative went, it was a moral imperative. Any state that emerged was immune from judgement, the story went.

For 76 years, Israel literally had a licence to kill. Until Monday.
The chief prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC) did much more than apply for arrest warrants for Netanyahu and Gallant. The ICC punctured the myth that any Israeli leader, official or soldier was beyond the reach of international law."

📰 Human rights groups in the Netherlands have filed a criminal complaint against the hotel broker site Bookingcom for possible war crimes, alleging it benefitted from listings in Israeli settlements within occupied Palestinian territories.

Dutch prosecutors confirmed they received the complaint filed by the European Legal Support Centre (ELSC), Al Haq, Somo and the Rights Forum on Thursday.

The collective of groups accused Bookingcom of laundering money in the Netherlands from its business operations in the occupied West Bank.

Bookingcom has denied the claims and said there are no laws prohibiting listings in Israeli settlements, adding that various US state laws would prohibit divesting from the region.

🎥 Over a dozen students were arrested at Oxford University on Thursday, after police cracked down on a protest in solidarity with Palestinians in Gaza.

The Rafah crossing between Egypt and Gaza has been closed indefinitely since the Israeli military seized the crossing on 7 May, a closure which has left thousands of Palestinians in limbo.

Since the beginning of Israel’s war on Gaza, and the subsequent closure of all other crossings, the Rafah crossing has been the only passageway for civilians fleeing.

An Egyptian company with exclusive control on exits and transfers via the terminal had been charging Palestinians at least $5,000 per adult and $2,500 per child to cross to the Egyptian side.

In April, Hala Consulting and Tourism Services, made at least $2m per day from Palestinians, MEE has revealed.

Now, those who were due to travel in May after paying thousands of dollars in advance have no clear means of getting a refund.

Over half of the 50 or so countries who have yet to recognise a Palestinian state are in Europe.

Oxford University doubled down on its crackdown on pro-Palestinian demonstrators, accusing students of using “direct action tactics” that required a police response.

In a letter sent to students and staff on Thursday, the university accused student protestors of making “inaccurate statements and claims” about the institution, and “forcibly overpowering” the receptionist at a section of the university offices in Wellington Square.

According to Oxford Action for Palestine, students launched a peaceful sit-in on Thursday morning in the office building to demand that the university administration - which has yet to negotiate - meet with the protesters.

The group said in a statement that instead of engaging in dialogue, the university’s vice chancellor placed the building under lockdown and called the police.
