英国科学家说，一种使用普通病毒来感染和破坏癌细胞的新疗法在早期人体试验中效果显著。其中一名病人的癌症彻底消失，其他患者的肿瘤也缩小了。该药物通过对唇疱疹病毒（cold sore virus）的弱化版进行改造，并用它杀死肿瘤。唇疱疹病毒是一种单纯疱疹病毒（herpes simplex）。接下来还需要进行更大规模和更长时间的研究，但专家说，这种病毒注射疗法最终会给更多晚期癌症患者提供一条生命线。
