欧洲联合环形加速器( Joint European Torus，JET )从去年 12 月 开始用氚进行聚变实验。JET 的费用是国际热核聚变实验堆（ITER）的十分之一，同样采用托克马克设计。JET 计划在 6 月开始融合氚和氘。这些聚变实验将帮助科学家预测 ITER 托卡马克装置中的等离子体将会如何表现。正在法国建造的 ITER 计划在 2025 年进行低功率的氢反应，2035 年开始混合 50:50 的氘和氚进行聚变融合反应。
