What it is: First Principles Thinking means breaking a complex problem down to its most basic, foundational truths β€” the things you know for certain β€” then building a solution upward from there.
Instead of reasoning by analogy (copying what others do with minor tweaks), you dismantle the situation until you hit the bedrock facts.

The Classic Example: When skeptics said battery packs for electric vehicles were too expensive at $600 per kilowatt-hour, innovators used First Principles. They asked: What are the material components of a battery?
The answer: Carbon, nickel, aluminum, polymers, and a steel can.
By looking at the raw spot-market costs of those individual materials, they realized batteries could be built for around $80 per kilowatt-hour. They didn't accept the "industry standard" price β€” they built up from foundational truths.

How to Apply It:
Identify the Assumption: "Building a professional digital product requires hiring a massive agency and spending thousands of dollars."
