The Supreme Court refused to examine a couple of fresh pleas challenging the constitutional validity of the Waqf (Amendment) Act, 2025, saying everybody wants their name in newspapers.

Supreme Court irked by repeated PILs to stop Rohingya deportation REFUSES relief to petitioner.

The Supreme Court rebuked repeated PIL attempts to halt the deportation of Rohingya Muslims, emphasizing that previous relief was denied on May 8.

Senior Advocate Colin Gonsalves' plea, citing the deportation of 28 Rohingyas and threats to their lives in Myanmar, was met with skepticism due to lack of verifiable evidence.

On May 8, a bench of Justices Surya Kant, Dipankar Datta and N Kotiswar Singh had refused to grant interim stay on apprehended deportation of Rohingyas despite spirited arguments from Gonsalves and Prashant Bhushan. The bench had said Rohingyas, who are not Indian citizens, do not have a right to reside anywhere in the country.
