Retired Major General Zahid Mahmood of the Pakistani Army has raised concerns over India's possible acquisition of the F-35 Lightning II fighter jets from the United States. Speaking to local media, he warned that the induction of these advanced fifth-generation stealth fighters could significantly shift the regional strategic balance, particularly affecting Pakistan.

Maj Gen Mahmood suggested that the presence of F-35s in the Indian Air Force (IAF) could embolden India to adopt a more aggressive military posture, particularly in regions like Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) and Gilgit-Baltistan (GB).
