Actor and Shiv Sena leader Govinda has been taken to the nearest hospital after he was accidentally shot in the leg by his own revolver this morning.

He was keeping his licensed revolver in the case when it fell from his hand and a bullet got fired which hit his leg.

The doctor has removed the bullet and his condition is fine.

What is the Sixth Schedule? Why is Ladakh demanding to be brought under it?

- The Sixth Schedule of the Indian Constitution aims to protect tribal populations and their interests through autonomous governance.

- The councils derive all their powers and functions directly from the Constitution.

- People in Ladakh, with a 97% tribal population, have been holding protests demanding the union territory be brought under the Sixth Schedule, for the local councils to have autonomy over protection of its environment and culture.

Groups representing Ladakh’s Buddhists and Shia Muslims have earlier held talks with MHA, demanding Statehood, tribal autonomous status, jobs for locals, and Lok Sabha seats for Leh and Kargil.
