Budget Estimates for 2024-2025:

For the year 2024-25, total receipts other than borrowings estimated at 32.07 lakh crore rupees and the total expenditure is 48.21 lakh crore rupees.

The net tax receipts are estimated at 25.83 lakh crore rupees.

The fiscal deficit is estimated at 4.9 percent of the GDP.

Limit of Long-Term Capital Gains (LTCG) hiked from 10% to 12.5%.

➡️Short-term gains on certain financial assets will be taxed at 20%, with the rest at the applicable tax rate.

➡️Long-term capital gains will now be 12.5%.

New Tax Regime slab :

0-3 lakhs - Nil
3-7 Lakhs - 5 percent
7-10 lakhs - 10 percent
10-12 lakhs - 15 percent
12-15 lakhs - 20 percent and
above 15 lakhs- 30 percent

For those opting for the new tax regime, the standard deduction for salaried employees to be increased from Rs 50,000 to Rs 75,000
