The construction of chariots for Rath Yatra, scheduled to be held on July 7, began on the occasion of Akshaya Tritiya in Puri.

Approx. 742 pieces of wooden logs of different types will be used for the construction of Bhagwan Jagannath’s 45.6 ft-high Nandighosh chariot

731 logs for Bhagwan Balabhadra’s Taladhwaja 45 ft-high chariot

711 logs for Devi Subhadra’s Darpadalana 44.6 ft-high chariot.

Around 200 persons, including carpenters, Bhoi servitors, blacksmiths, woodcutters, tailors and artists, have been engaged in the making of the three chariots.
