Singapore Passes Law To Hold "Dangerous Offenders" Beyond Jail Terms.

The legislation applies to those above 21 who are convicted of crimes such as culpable homicide, rape and sex with minors, who are deemed to be at risk of reoffending upon release.

In a speech in parliament, Law and Home Affairs Minister K. Shanmugam said: "An offender who continues to pose a real danger to others should not be released."

Modi govt introduces Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Bill, 2024 in Lok Sabha.

Persons resorting to unfair means during a public examination may face imprisonment for 3-5 years along with a fine of up to ₹10 lakh.

The bill states that if a person or a group of individuals including the examination service provider are found guilty of organised crime, the punishment amounts to a minimum of five years of imprisonment which may extend to ten years. The guilty will be slapped with a minimum fine of ₹1 crore.
