But did you know? In 2018, during the first cabinet meeting of the present Ashok Gehlot Govt in Rajasthan - they REMOVED the MINIMUM QUALIFICATION required to contest panchayat and urban bodies’ elections in Rajasthan.

Earlier, Vasundhara Raje Govt had introduced reforms, which stipulated that for contesting municipal, zila parishad or panchyat samiti polls - the contestant should be atleast 10th pass.

And for sarpanch election, the general category aspirant should be atleast 8th pass and SC/ST category aspirant should be atleast 5th pass.
