Multiple teams comprising of specialised personnel from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), the High Altitude Warfare School (Indian Army), and the Indian Air Force, are engaged in search and rescue operations.

Himachal Pradesh: Ace Mountaineer Colonel Prem Chand (retd), the first Indian to scale Kanchenjunga, the countryโs highest peak, in 1977 through its toughest route, the North East Spur, has passed away after a brief illness. in Kullu, on Tuesday. He was 87.
He was also the only living person to have climbed both peaks of Nanda Devi, the main peak, and the east one, Sunanda Devi, regarded as one of the toughest Indian peaks to scale.
As principal of Nehru Institute of Mountaineering (NIM), he is credited with helping Bachendri Pal become the first Indian woman to scale Mt Everest in 1984. In 1983, he personally trained the all-women expedition group, led by Pal, which went on to scale Everest.
Bachendri Pal said she owes her career to her โguruโ Colonel Chand. โHe inspired me to take up mountaineering and shaped my professional life too.โ
He was also known as the 'Snow Tiger'.

Indian Coast Guard (ICG) on the basis of intelligence input by ATS Gujarat has jointly apprehended a Pakistani Boat with 06 crew in Indian waters carrying approx. 50 kgs of Heroine worth Rs. 350 crore.
This is 6th such operation in last one year by ICG with ATS, with this incident being second in less than a month when on 14 Sept, 40 kg of heroin worth approx Rs 200 Crores was apprehended from a Pakistani boat.
