India is exploring cooperation with France on next-generation combat-air technology, looking beyond its indigenous AMCA programme toward future sixth-generation capabilities.

The Defence Ministry informed a parliamentary panel that discussions are underway on possible cooperation with France’s Future Combat Air System (FCAS) programme.

The move could give India an opportunity to participate in the development of advanced fighter technologies, unmanned combat aircraft and networked air-combat systems as New Delhi looks toward its post-AMCA fighter requirements.
