Stalin Govt in 2024 had notified that people from Backward Classes (BC), Most Backward Classes (MBC), Denotified Communities (DNC), and Scheduled Castes (SC) who converted to Islam should be treated as BC (Muslim) for reservation purposes.

However, the High Court declared the order unconstitutional, holding that conversion alone does not entitle a person to backward-class reservation under the Muslim quota.

The matter is now before the Supreme Court.

A committee has been formed in Maharashtra for UCC, but if you look at it, you won’t find a single member from the MINORITY community.
