Baltej Singh nephew of Satwant Singh -one of the bodyguards involved in the assassination of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi-was convicted in a major drug trafficking case in New Zealand.

A 32-year-old supermarket owner based in Auckland at the time, Baltej Singh was sentenced to 22 years in prison in February 2025 by the Auckland High Court after admitting to importing more than 700 kg of methamphetamine.

The haul, was the largest single drug seizure in New Zealand's history.
