In Matiari, Sindh, a 9-year-old Hindu girl named Meena Kachhi was brutally assaulted. Her father, shattered, carried her bleeding body to the hospital in his arms. No father should ever have to do that. No child should ever be reduced to a statistic in a forgotten minority’s tragedy.

History Has Warned Us Before In 1947, as India bled through Partition, some Hindu leaders, especially from marginalized castes, believed they could coexist with Pakistan’s new order. What followed was decades of trauma: forced conversions, abductions, and systemic erasure.

Pakistani Hindus are not a monolith. They are divided into: Upper castes: Brahmins, Vaishyas, and Rajputs often urban, better educated, but politically side-lined. Scheduled Castes: Kachhis, Meghwars, Bheels, Kolhis, and Bagris mostly rural, poor, and vulnerable to exploitation.

Meena was a Kachhi. Her pain is amplified not just by religion, but by caste. These divisions make it easier for predators to isolate, target, and erase.

When Hindus fight over caste, region, or ideology, we lose the one thing that protects us: unity. Every time we mock each other’s rituals, dismiss each other’s dialects, or politicize our pain, we make it easier for the world to ignore us. If we remain divided, Meena’s story will repeat. Again. And again. Until there’s no one left to tell it.
