This one is about a bodybuilder from Doda who fought terrorists with his bare hands — to save his commander, his team, and to stop infiltration.

On this day in 2018, Rifleman Shive Kumar, Shaurya Chakra (Posthumous) | 15 JAK LI, deployed with 31 Rashtriya Rifles, was on a seek-and-destroy mission in the dense forests of Hajin, Bandipora. At first light, he spotted a terrorist at close range and instantly sensed that his Team Commander, unaware of the threat, was vulnerable to fire.

Without a thought for his own life, Rifleman Shive charged. Bullets tore into him, his weapon slipped, but he did not stop. Bleeding and wounded, he wrestled the terrorist and killed him with his bare hands. Then, seizing the terrorist’s weapon, he engaged another and broke the ambush, saving his fellow soldiers and preventing infiltration.

A bodybuilder by passion. A soldier since 2005. A husband and father of three. His strength was not just in muscle but in spirit. His story lives on — not only for the gallantry of that morning, but for the discipline, selflessness, and duty that defined his life.

Rifleman Shive Kumar lives on — forever among the brave in Valhalla.
