Among the authors whose books have been banned are AG Noorani, Arundhati Roy, Victoria Schofield, Sumantra Bose and Christopher Snedden.

The Home Department, which comes under the Lieutenant-Governor of J&K, invoked Section 98 of the Bhartiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita 2023 to categorise the 25 books as “forfeited”. Their circulation will be STOPPED.
