In a significant development along the Indo-Myanmar border, the banned militant outfit ULFA-Independent has claimed that a massive drone strike by Indian security forces killed its 3 senior leaders, including self-styled Lieutenant General Nayan Medhi alias Nayan Asom, and injured at least 19 cadres, including Brigadier-level leader Ganesh Lahon.

The attack reportedly targeted multiple camps stretching from Longwa in Nagaland to Pangsao Pass in Arunachal Pradesh.

ULFA (I) alleges that over 150 Israeli and French-made drones were used in the strike, which also affected camps belonging to the RPF and PLA.

However, in an official statement, the Indian Army has denied any involvement. "There are no inputs with the Indian Army on such an operation," said Lt Col Mahendra Rawat, PRO Defence Guwahati

🚨The Supreme Court dismissed a plea challenging the February 2024 Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Tribunal's order, which upheld the Central government's declaration of the Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) as an unlawful association under the UAPA.

Justices Vikram Nath and Sandeep Mehta questioned the petitioner's locus and declined to hear the plea.
