FAQ
Q: Is my entire Inventory being submitted to Mediagress?
A: No, only Media is being submitted. The plugin will filter out everything that is not an Media item in a Capsule locally before it is sent off. We will never see your Items or Keys.
Q: Why do I need a C.O.R.E. Subscription?
A: Only Agents with an active C.O.R.E. Subscription have the benefit of accesing their Inventory on the intel map. Without an C.O.R.E. Subscription, our plugin cannot read your Inventory and search for Media. For more information about C.O.R.E., please see the official Ingress support page: https://niantic.helpshift.com/a/ingress/?s=top-articles&f=what-is-c-o-r-e&p=all
Q: Why does the Media have to be in a Capsule for it to upload?
A: For some reason, Media that is not in a Capsule doesn't return any data about itself except that it is an Media item. Once it is loaded into a Capsule or Quantum Capsule, it returns a lot more data about itself.
Q: What about Media I don't want to upload?
A: There may be a time you don't want to upload a Media, for example due to OpSec reasons. In that case, make sure that the Media that should not be uploaded isn't loaded into any Capsule. This way, the Intel Map doesn't return any data for it and it'll not be uploaded to Mediagress. Make sure that you have clearance to upload potential OpSec media. We are not responsible for any broken OpSec and will not check beforehand if any Media might break it.

We now have 485 Media visible on mediagress.net with no Media left in the approval queue. Once more, we cannot thank you enough for your submissions.
Now, what are we working on?
1) Night Mode
Currently, you are going blind when you visit the Website. A Night Mode version of the site is planned and should give your eyes some well needed rest.
2) Plugin improvements
The Plugin will see some improvements in uploading media, mainly in giving the user more information on what is happening and if their uploaded media is new to the site.
3) Category and Filter search
Are you looking for a certain First Saturday media? Do you want to see which media are actually over L1? The search function will be built upon so it'll be easier to find Media.

Good morning, afternoon or evening, depending on your timezone! We have a new update for mediagress.net:
- Dark mode π
- Media level is now hidden from the media list unless it's L2+
- Media images are now compressed for the media list, which means faster loading and less data used (thank you @Teg0ng for the suggestion elsewhere!)
- Added a "Level (highest first)" sorting
- Change favicons to a more 2D look (Thank you @CtrlAltFck!)
- Fixed a bug with upload date sorting where media would get listed randomly each time if they had the same upload date
- The Plugin page received padding so the text has a bit of breathing room from the edge of the screen
- Small layout improvements

@Mediagress
Hallo, everyone! We have a new update for mediagress.net.
You can now seach media by category! Categories are assigned by admins when approving media and are seen on the media detail screen, from which they can also be clicked to show all media of that specific category. There are two types of categories:
Topics:
These categories will tell you what the media is about. There can be multiple topic assigned to one media, for example "Tesselation", "Nemesis" and "Intel".
Destination:
These categories will tell you what the media will link to. At the moment, these are either an image, a video, a website or a file. Only one of these will be assigned to a media.
Please note that categorizing is, indeed, done by a human, and therefore prone to errors. If you think a media has a wrong category or could need better ones, do tell us so we can edit them!

Greetings once again, fellow humans. We have updated our IITC plugin so it gives you more information about the upload!
Starting now, you'll receive feedback on if a media you uploaded is new to Mediagress. When you are successfully uploading media, you will now receive a message that either tells you that X media you uploaded were new, in which case you were the first agent to upload a specific media, or that the uploaded media is already known to the site. We hope this feedback will make the media upload more clear! We have also updated our FAQ with some more explanations.

Hello agents! We have arrived at a point where we believe that the Website is looking good and "finished". Do you have any ideas or suggestions for features or improvements? Let us know in the comments or in the discussion group!
While we can't promise to build Ingress 3.0, we want to hear from you no matter how crazy the idea is. Worst case, it makes a good discussion topic π

Mediagress is locked in protest of Niantics decision to offer NFT biocards
During the Epiphany Dawn anomaly in Los Angeles, Niantic announced the introduction of collectable NFT biocards for Ingress in collaboration with SpotX Games. This happened after a previous outcry by tons of agents when the SpotX Team only met with players without even announcing anything yet, which Niantic apparently choose to ignore.
We vehemently condemn this decision and have decided to lock Mediagress in protest.
There is zero actual value to NFTs. Their sole purpose is to create artificial scarcity of an artwork to supposedly increase its value. In addition to that, NFTs are bad for the environment, as they rely on cryptocurrencies that cause huge amounts of carbon emissions. They will continue to rely on these systems for security reasons (despite claims to the contrary about moving to other systems).
There is no reason to use NFTs over already existing technologies, and nothing that NFTs offer cannot be done without the use of Web3.
This site will stay locked until Niantic announces a full discontinuation of NFT biocards. Should this not happen, Mediagress will stay locked indefinitely.
If you wish to upload your Media, you can still do so with our IITC plugin here. Submissions will stay open and new Media will be approved and categorized as soon as the site goes public again.
For further questions, you can contact @InvestigateXM on Telegram. Please note that all messages with the topic of "Actually, NFTs aren't that bad", "You are overreacting" or similar will be met with a block and a report for spam.

@Mediagress
As you may or may not have guessed, I'm not a fan of all that NFT stuff Niantic has done, and the main reason I took the site down was because I didn't want to dedicate any more time towards Ingress. That being said, as I have no idea how to code, I have paid someone to create the site, so if it just sits around and shuts down eventually, its basically 800 bucks down the drain.
I still have zero desire to "help" Niantic keep the community happy with the site, but they seem dead set on continuing with their NFT plan.
With that being said, I have given another trusted agent access to the site so that Media can be categorised and approved. The site is therefore reopened again.
As I'm not 100% if they want to, I'm choosing not to name the agent in question at the moment. While they can ask me for advice, I'll otherwise not impede or help their work. That also means that I do not wish to take any credit for categorising and approving Media from this point forward.
I apologise for the inconvenience over the last month.

Mediagress is now part of Ingress Plus!
mediagress.net now redirects to ingress.plus and the database can now be found at https://ingress.plus/media.
The design of the page has received a complete overhaul together with a new backend server, making it more easier to search for and find media. Statistics were added to https://ingress.plus/stats showing the total amount of media discovered as well as the top 10 agents with the most unique media uploaded.
The IITC plugin has received a small update which now sends the uploaded media to the Ingress Plus servers. The old version of the plugin still works for now, but may be deprecated in the future, so make sure to either update or reinstall the plugin from this site.
I want to personally thank each and every agent that helped and contributed over the last two years resulting in over 1000 unique media being discovered! The current admins won't be going anywhere and will continue to approve media on the new site as well, and with the help of the Ingress Plus team new features are on the horizon π
Updates for Mediagress will continue to be posted on this channel. We would love to see your feedback and potential bug reports for the new site in the comments or in the Mediagress group: https://t.me/+1HQl1If7w1szYmMy
Check out the Ingress Plus channel here: @Ingress_Plus
Once again, thank you to every single agent that has contributed to the site, no matter how. I hope that you'll continue to help building the best Media database out there on the internet.

Niantic has just deleted everything that was hosted under the ingress-events and ingress-internal-event-data buckets on their Google Cloud Servers. Due to this, at least 450 confirmed Media (and likely a ton more) have been broken.
While the Media items still function as normal in the game, the preview images and all content hosted on Google Cloud were wiped. This is sadly almost a third of all the Media we have collected on Mediagress.
As Mediagress does not download the Media images and content itself but only points to them, that means that these Media also appear broken on the site right now with a black image in the search and a broken image in the Media details.
It is unknown if Niantic can restore this data, we will update once we hear either way from them.
