โœ… Mechanical nuts come in various types, each designed for specific applications and to meet different requirements for strength, vibration resistance, and ease of assembly. Here are some common types:

1. Hex Nuts: The most common type with six sides, used with bolts, screws, and other fasteners.
2. Lock Nuts: Designed to resist loosening under vibration. Includes nylon insert lock nuts, metal lock nuts, and serrated flange nuts.
3. Wing Nuts: Feature two large metal "wings" for hand tightening.
4. Cap Nuts (Acorn Nuts): Closed on one end to cover and protect the bolt threads.
5. Flange Nuts: Have a built-in washer-like flange to distribute pressure.

6. Square Nuts: Four-sided nuts often used in conjunction with flat washers.
7. T-Nuts: Used to secure wood, particleboard, and composite materials, with prongs that dig into the material.
8. Coupling Nuts: Long nuts used to connect two pieces of threaded rod.
9. Jam Nuts: Thinner nuts used to lock other nuts in place.
10. Castle Nuts: Feature notches for a cotter pin or wire to secure them, often used in automotive and machinery applications.
11. Keps Nuts (K-Lock Nuts): Have an attached, free-spinning washer.

12. Square Nuts: Four-sided nuts, often used with square-headed bolts.
13. Slotted Nuts: Similar to castle nuts, used with a cotter pin or wire for added security.
14. Prevailing Torque Lock Nuts: Feature a slightly deformed thread to provide resistance to vibration.
15. Rivet Nuts (Nutserts): Inserted into a pre-drilled hole and then deformed to hold the material in place.

Each type of nut serves a specific purpose and is chosen based on the requirements of the application, including the level of torque needed, the environment in which it will be used, and the materials being joined.
