🪖 Russian forces are beginning to draw an encirclement arc around Lyman dashed red arrows show two converging approach routes closing from the northwest through Drobysheve and from the southeast through Brusivka and Staryi Karavan.

🔴 Lyman is not a minor settlement It is a critical railway hub whose loss in 2022 was a significant Ukrainian achievement retaking it now would restore a key logistics node feeding Russian operations across the entire Lyman-Kreminna axis.

🔴 The Siverskyi Donets reservoir system and surrounding floodplain wetlands dominate the western edge of the map compressing Ukrainian defensive repositioning options and channeling any withdrawal toward narrow road corridors that Russian forces can interdict from elevated ground.

🚂 The railway running through Lyman and north toward Drobysheve and Stavky is the operational spine of this sector.

🔍Russian control of the northern approach threatens to sever it entirely, isolating Ukrainian forces holding the city from resupply coming down from the northwest.
