⚡️🇺🇸 — The Trump administration is stripping tens of millions of dollars in U.S. military assistance from Europe and the Middle East to support conservative-leaning governments in Central and South America. The State Department notified Congress on Tuesday that it will reprogram $52 million in foreign military financing from Slovakia, North Macedonia, Tunisia and Iraq to Panama, Peru, Ecuador and Colombia — AP.

➡️ Secretary of State Marco Rubio visited Colombia, Ecuador and Peru last week and pledged additional support, as the administration has prioritized the Western Hemisphere with an emphasis on combating drug trafficking and illegal immigration. Foreign military financing provides recipient countries with U.S. taxpayer dollars to purchase military equipment from American defense contractors.

The State Department said the funds would be used to "combat narcoterrorism in our backyard and help continue to secure the Panama Canal," adding that the Western Hemisphere has been historically neglected in U.S. military assistance. "These funds will prevent adversaries from establishing strategic footholds in our hemisphere," the department said in a veiled jab at China, which has increasingly sought to boost its presence in Latin America.

➡️ The shift does not eliminate foreign military financing for Tunisia, Iraq, North Macedonia or Slovakia, although the exact amount remaining for those countries was not immediately clear. The State Department said the current distribution of financing does "not align with the administration's prioritization of" the Western Hemisphere.

⚡️🇺🇸🇯🇴U.S. Central Command:
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — On Sept. 15, U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) and the Jordanian Armed Forces kicked off exercise Eager Lion 2026 at Fort Carson in Colorado.

More than 200 military personnel from Jordan and the United States are participating, including National Guard personnel from Colorado and Illinois. The two-week event is designed to deepen U.S.-Jordanian military cooperation, which remains a cornerstone of Middle East security and stability.

"Our longstanding military-to-military ties with the Jordanian Armed Forces are stronger than ever," said Adm. Brad Cooper, CENTCOM commander. "Working and training together will further strengthen our collective operational effectiveness and readiness."

Eager Lion 2026 is the 12th iteration of the biennial exercise. This year, U.S. service members will train alongside Jordanian counterparts during scenarios that focus on planning and coordination in counterterrorism, air defense, maritime security, cyber, and disaster response.

The state of Colorado has a special relationship with the Jordanian Armed Forces. The Colorado National Guard established a longstanding partnership with Jordan's military through the State Partnership Program.

Established in 1993, the State Partnership Program pairs state National Guards with militaries of other nations to promote global security cooperation. Colorado and Jordan began partnering in 2004, forging enduring trust and personal bonds for more than 22 years.

This is the first time the United States is hosting Eager Lion.

⚡️🇺🇸🇮🇱 — The Trump administration is preparing a multibillion-dollar sale of 2,000-pound bombs to Israel, the largest single sale of the munition in recent years, a U.S. official told The Washington Post.

The $2.8 billion package, purchased with U.S. taxpayer dollars, includes 40,000 bombs weighing 2,000 pounds each: 20,000 MK-84s, 20,000 BLU-117s (a variant of the MK-84 with thermal protective coating for naval storage), and 20,000 I-2000 Penetrator warheads (a penetrating bomb body used to attack hardened structures). Among the most destructive munitions in Western military arsenals, an MK-84 explosion sends metal fragments in every direction for thousands of feet, can rip through metal and thick concrete, and often creates large craters.

➡️ The 2,000-pound bombs have been employed by Israel on hundreds of occasions in Gaza and Lebanon, playing a significant role in the death toll of those conflicts. Israel has drawn criticism for routinely dropping MK-84s in zones it designated as safe for civilians in Gaza. “They do like to use them a lot when they’re trying to target any building,” said Trevor Ball, a former explosive-ordnance-disposal technician for the U.S. Army. “If Hezbollah or whoever is in a building, an MK-84 will bring down the whole building.”

Nicknamed the “hammer” by U.S. pilots in the first Gulf War, it is the only munition that President Joe Biden’s administration stopped sending to Israel during the Gaza war out of concern about the killing of Palestinian civilians, suspending a single shipment in the spring of 2024. The policy was immediately reversed by President Donald Trump in January 2025, his first month back in office.

Although the delivery time for such orders can take several years, approving these sales signals a broader "vote of confidence" in the bilateral relationship with Israel.

➡️ The Trump administration is pressing the leaders of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee and the House Foreign Affairs Committee to approve the sale. Republican and Democratic leaders historically have backed such sales, but they are starting to face resistance from rank-and-file members regarding U.S. support for Israel stemming from the unpopularity of the wars in Gaza and Iran. Republicans are more unified in their support for Israel, but a growing number of conservative commentators, including Megyn Kelly, Tucker Carlson and Candace Owens, have questioned Washington’s steadfast backing and the $3.8 billion of aid the United States sends to Israel every year.

⚡️🇾🇪🇸🇦 — The Houthi-affiliated news agency SABA quoted a military source as emphatically denying any threat from Yemen against the holy city of Mecca or other holy sites. The source also condemned what it called misleading and false information circulated by the "Saudi enemy" regarding a threat from Yemen to Mecca. It added that promoting such reports is intended to defame its image and gain the sympathy of the Islamic world, calling this a known tactic of Riyadh.

⚡️🇪🇬🇸🇦 — Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman met during a working visit to Egypt, holding a closed bilateral meeting and expanded delegation talks. The two leaders established a formal agreement to maintain direct consultations and implement practical measures to eliminate obstacles hindering bilateral trade and investment flows.

➡️ Egypt declared that the security of Saudi Arabia and the Gulf states is an integral part of its own national security, categorically rejecting threats to Saudi sovereignty, stability, and territorial integrity. Both nations formed a unified stance to guarantee the freedom and security of maritime navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, Bab el-Mandeb, and the Red Sea, with El-Sisi endorsing Saudi measures to protect its stability and support a political solution to the Yemen crisis.

On the Palestinian cause, Egypt and Saudi Arabia aligned on a two-state solution, demanding the execution of the second phase of the U.S. President's peace plan and UN Security Council Resolution 2803, the delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza, and an end to Israeli violations in Gaza, the West Bank, and East Jerusalem.

On the Sudanese crisis, both states committed to supporting Sudan's unity and national institutions, explicitly rejecting the equation of the Sudanese Armed Forces with illegitimate militias or parallel entities, while declaring any threat to Sudan's integrity a direct danger to the collective security of Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and the wider region.

It seems like these attacks are escalating beyond Ukraine's borders... Just this weekend, a train was hit shortly after foreign dignitaries were leaving Ukraine. Have you received any intelligence to suggest that that attack was on purpose, that Russia was trying to send a message there?

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy:
So in Moldova my presidential jet was in the air, and that's why they attack Moldova, they used airspace of Moldova. So they attacked Moldova airspace. Maybe they didn't want to attack me personally, but they wanted to... they wanted to scare me, yeah, in any way, and it's understand between us. We didn't share it with media, yes, but when we when we back come again through Chisinau, they did the same.

⚡️🇮🇱🇵🇸 — Israeli forces detained Iranian Press TV’s West Bank correspondent Naqaa Hamed at a checkpoint near Tuqu' in the Bethlehem area. A colleague who spoke to the outlet said the forces stopped Hamed and her camera crew, searched the group, and took her into custody while releasing the cameramen.

➡️ Tasnim reported that Hamed had been the target of repeated direct attacks by settlers in recent weeks and had been under cyber attack from "Zionist accounts" for a month, in what it called a targeted effort to amplify a media pressure campaign against her through coordinated content and identical terminology.

🚨🇮🇱🇵🇸 — The target of the IDF and Shin Bet strike in the southern Gaza Strip was the Rafah Brigade commander, according to Ynet. His predecessor, Muhammad Shabana, was killed in June 2025 in a strike in Khan Younis alongside the then-head of Hamas's military wing, Muhammad Sinwar.

The Israeli defense establishment increasingly assesses that the Rafah Brigade commander was killed. The attack was carried out under the leadership of the Southern Command, following an intense series of targeted strikes against senior Hamas officials in recent days; on Friday, Khan Younis Brigade commander Muhammad Yazuri was also killed.

➡️ Meanwhile, the Nasser Medical Complex reported two killed and 14 wounded in an Israeli raid on tents of displaced people west of Khan Younis city.

⚡️🇺🇦🇷🇺Correspondent to Zelensky:
Trump announced an energy ceasefire, he said that Ukraine would stop striking Russian energy and that Russia would stop striking Ukrainian energy targets. But overnight there were drone attacks on both sides, so this is all very confusing. Help me understand, is there, is there an energy ceasefire right now?

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy:
No, Putin doesn't respect, doesn't see, and will not even, even think how to negotiate with the weak people. That's why we respond. We never attack first... Putin, energy is to sell oil, is to sell gas. For us, energy is to have electricity for our people. That's all.
