I have been delving into educational materials about law and history very deeply. What I am finding is like —- fills the body with good strong energy. Discovering things you never knew can be very powerful.
Respecting one another is the most important subject.
All our environments are suffering from a failure to recognize how to respect one another. Why? It has benefited certain groups if respect is lost out of community spaces. Those doing intentional violence will push at this; just this little bit, this isn't a big deal, is it? That's not really a lack of respect. It's something else instead.
But as those pushes keep being pushed, people find themselves treating one another in terrible ways and being able to excuse it. It will seem to bring you safety and money to excuse it. The result in these communities is that people below certain thresholds of privilege can no longer access any kind of respectful discourse; it has been explained away too often and too easily that certain kinds of respect are not necessary. If peoples most deleteriously affected then can no longer communicate, others do not necessarily notice. More and more respect is lost —- the most basic kinds of respect. We strove to remember, but we forgot.
When we finally notice
Prayers that we notice
How do we restore it?
How do we make a smooth transition from not realizing and not knowing to listening and learning and changing our priorities to ensure we are honoring all the living beings of and around our communities?
Look, that little bug is a person. Treat each person with kindness.
Look, that leaf is a person. How can I respect it?
It can feel suddenly that we are turned upside-down, inside-out.
It feels like that as we come to recognize the violence we've been living with and failing to notice, or have been explaining away as if it was of little consequence.
It feels bad at first.
And then it changes.
Together we are brave enough to move through this.
We learn crucial lessons from it.
And then we are equipped to respect one another more effectively, solving all kinds of problems we used to think were "just the way things are."
Maybe the leaf person and the bug person are not your path, but you will find countless living beings in your spaces if you notice how different people are different. Human people. Non-human people.
We are all living beings here, every mote and wave.
How we notice and treat one another matters.
In the ways that I am another you, and you are another me
Each experience different, uniquely nourishing
Courage, kindness, respect, worthy
Heartsbeating love-breathing
Ancient flowing
Family tree.
I have been loving radishes
Diced carrot salad
Diced radish salad
Always with the green tops diced in with the root
Trying to find more of this and beets for soon
