Just a heads up folks.
Once the Online Verification Act comes into effect in Australia on 10 December 2025, I genuinely have no idea whether I’ll still be able to access the internet without being forced to verify my identity. Everything seems to be moving toward mandatory digital identification, and I’ve already made my decision: I won’t be signing up for a government digital ID, and I refuse to hand over my personal details just to get online or use social media. If that means I lose access, then so be it.

To be honest, I never planned to be online permanently anyway. My intention was always to share what I could for as long as I could, hoping to spark a bit of awareness and encourage people to question what’s happening around them. I think I’ve done that. But once digital ID becomes the norm and age verification becomes a requirement for basic online access, that will likely be my cue to step away from the internet entirely.

I’ve never wanted to spend my life being a full-time keyboard warrior. Life is too short to waste behind a screen arguing with strangers. At least I feel like I’ve shared enough on here to nudge a few people into looking at the world through a different lens—to think more critically, to question the narratives they’re fed, and to live each day to its fullest. Because none of us truly knows when our time is up.

So if, one day soon, I suddenly disappear from online spaces, that will be the reason. Nothing dramatic—just the result of a system I won’t participate in. Until then, I guess we’ll just have to wait and see how things unfold when all of this finally comes into effect.

Caerwin Martin, 52, attended a specialist check-up for persistent tooth pain earlier this week. She says the appointment took an unexpected turn when the periodontist asked for her consent to use an AI program to assist with note-taking and referrals.
Martin, declined due to concerns about privacy and data security. She said she did not want her personal medical information uploaded into any AI system.
According to Martin, her refusal triggered a tense reaction. “I’m still shocked,” she said. “I never imagined I’d have police called on me for simply saying I didn’t want AI used in my consultation.”

Thankfully when police arrived, they assessed the situation and allowed her to leave without further issue.
