Discord Community Update

We’re expanding our Discord community and will be adding moderators to help manage and grow the server.

We’re also planning to introduce beta releases and testing opportunities soon, with Discord serving as the primary place for announcements, discussions, and early testing.

If you haven’t joined yet, now is a good time to do so.

We’re looking for contributors !!

if you’re interested in working on the project more actively, you can join us as a full-time contributor.

you only need basic coding knowledge, nothing too advanced. using coding agents is completely fine too, so don’t worry about that.

and if you can’t contribute full-time, you can still help by opening PRs with fixes, features, or any improvements that can make the app better.

for any queries, dm me @sudo_solo

LastWave Desktop v1.2.0 is here, bringing a big lyrics upgrade, playlist link imports, a cooler-running app and a lot of hardening under the hood.

• Many New Lyrics Providers: Five new sources race to find your lyrics — BetterLyrics word-sync, Lrc.Red, Kugou KRC word-sync, Musixmatch line-sync and SimpMusic video-matched.

• Smarter Lyrics Matching: Strict version-aware matching so "Song" never steals the lyrics of "Song (Interlude)"

• Cooler & Lighter: Background work now gates on minimized/hidden instead of focus — motion-art decode pauses, karaoke tickers mute and Discord presence narrows when the window is out of sight — and lyrics scrolling no longer burns CPU.

• Playlist Link Import: Paste a Spotify, Apple Music or YouTube playlist link and get a preview plus one-tap local import — no API keys needed, with short-link support, friendly errors and sensible caps.

• Linux Fixes: Global hotkeys now work on distros missing keybinder, and the AppImage no longer crashes off-Ubuntu

• Small Touches: Windows SMTC now shows the real app name and icon.

We’ve been getting a lot of suggestions like “add an Apple-style frost effect”, “make the volume slider like Apple”, “use Apple-style background blur”, etc.

Honestly, I’m not interested in blindly making individual components look like Apple. If one component follows Apple’s design language while everything else follows a different style, the whole UI loses consistency.

We’re not trying to make an Apple Music clone.

I’d rather take our time, build our own design, and improve it gradually than keep copying individual parts of another product just because they look good.

We'll add more bugs in upcoming releases , so we can fix them in future.

Hey! We noticed that someone registered lastwave.app and created a website introducing LastWave.

We genuinely appreciate the effort and support for the project! ❤️ However, we'd love to get in touch with you to discuss a few things regarding the domain and website.

Please contact us at t.me/sudo_solo or DM me directly on Discord.

Looking forward to hearing from you!

Let's make LastWave popular !!

Yeah, I mean it's already popular, but it's way too less than it deserves. So can you all post about it on Twitter, Reddit, Instagram Reels, Telegram channels, groups, Discord, anywhere you can?

Thanks, everyone.

Hey guys, I got a really cool idea for LastWave, though I don't know if you all will agree with it or not. We're thinking of making a live website where everyone can see how many people are listening right now on a 2D world map, with each active listener showing up as a glowing dot. Along with the live map, the site will also display the Top 10 daily, weekly, and monthly songs, plus other cool app stats for everyone to check out.

Of course, I'm not going to use any GPS or location permissions. It will just use the incoming IP in real time purely for map-plotting purposes at a rough state or city level, and then immediately discard it. Don't worry all data will be 100% anonymous, no IP addresses will ever be stored, and the entire website and server code will be completely open source so anyone can verify it.

Still, if you guys are against it, I'll drop this plan completely. Let me know what you think!

Look, seeing some of the replies about the live map idea, I really need to explain how the internet actually works because a few of you saw the letters "IP" and immediately started acting like your privacy is getting violated? wtf.

Here's the funniest part: you're already using addons inside this exact same app! Every time you stream a song, your device hands your IP directly to those lossless streaming addon servers—didn't you know that? You have zero issues giving your IP to addons every day, so why the sudden panic when LastWave uses the same connection just to put a glowing dot on an open-source map and build community stats?

An IP doesn't even show your house—it points to a random ISP box kilometers away in your city, and nobody cares what you're listening to at 2 AM. Our server just grabs that rough city or state name for half a millisecond, adds "+1" to the 2D map and the grouped daily, weekly, and monthly top song charts (for your region, country, and the world), and instantly deletes your connection info forever. Nothing personal is logged or saved, and the entire code is open source for anyone who actually knows how to read code instead of panicking in chat.

If you're happily using lossless streaming addons all day while freaking out over an open-source app showing an anonymous city dot and grouped song charts without saving a single byte of your data, please go touch some grass. For everyone else who actually uses their brain, let me know if you want this built or if we should just add an opt-out switch for the tin-foil hat squad.
