In this personal blog I share some info on learning English as a second or a foreign language.

These days, I'm super busy, so I haven't been writing much on my personal blog. You know, it's like my own little diary where I jot down memories to look back on later. Today, I want to share about my trip to Khiva, a city steeped in history.

I'm a big history fan, and visiting places like Khiva always brings me joy. I believe it's important to protect these old sites for future generations to enjoy. Now, let's talk about Khiva. It's a stunning city with a unique vibe, and it's more budget-friendly than other tourist spots.

For instance, a standard hotel room costs around 200,000 soums per person, which is pretty reasonable. And you can pick up souvenirs and clothes at fair prices right in Ichan Kala, the open-air museum where buildings from the 18th and 19th centuries are located.
Meeting tourists from all over the world in Khiva brought me joy and made me wonder why we locals don't appreciate our historic sites as much. It got me thinking about why people in Uzbekistan don't travel much and prefer spending their money on other things. That's when I decided to start saving up to travel the world. I realized that traveling can teach us a lot more than we think.

I also rediscovered the importance of learning languages. I had conversations with people from different countries, and thanks to English, we could understand each other easily. Learning other languages not only helps you talk to people from different countries but also improves international relations. In short, I suggest you learn languages and travel whenever you get the chance.
Having someone who always takes care of you and supports you is the best happiness that a human being can obtain!

Nowadays people depend on technology in their free time.
Is this a positive or negative development?

People are increasingly using technology in their leisure time. There are some positive effects associated with this change, such as instant access to entertainment and chance for staying connected. However, this development is mostly negative as it can lead to sedentary lifestyle and addiction.

With technology, whole new types of entertainment are at our fingertips. People can watch movies, play games, listen to music, and surf social media from the comfort of their home. By contrast, alternative ways, such as going to the cinema, concerts, and playing outdoor games, would require time, money and energy. Another positive is the opportunity to socialize. Whether it be talking to a relative, sending a video to a friend, or checking up on colleagues, the internet allows people to keep in touch despite geographical boundaries.

Despite this, I tend to view this trend negatively. The main concern is the health issues that may result from spending too much time with technology. When people use technology in their free time, they naturally spend less time on exercise. The lack of physical activity has long been associated with several health problems, ranging from poor posture to more severe conditions like obesity and eye sight deterioration. Even worse, people can form addiction. The excessive usage of the internet in free time, for example, can lead to dependence on it. As a result, the urge to check notifications while working or studying can result in divided attention, ultimately impacting people’s overall productivity.

In conclusion, technology does offer some benefits for those who use it in their free time, such the easy access to entertainment and socializing. That said, the overall impact of such a habit is undesirable as it can affect people’s physical as well as mental well-being.

I had been waiting for this change for years!
Teaching at university will be even more interesting and intriguing from now on. We (university professors) should worker harder since our decisions may affect our students’ finances. I am really looking forward to seeing this legislation working in higher educational institutions.
