Baby Steps Algorithm
Some advice on how to accomplish things by doing real baby steps (which can be studied by observing an actual baby as opposed to reading self-help books):
1. Choose a goal and GRAB it like it was made for you
2. DROP whatever you’ve been holding or doing — others will take care of it
3. STORM towards your goal with complete disregard for your surroundings
4. If you can no longer run or walk, CRAWL to it
5. If you can no longer crawl, STRETCH in its general direction
6. If nothing works, HOWL like a demon — maybe someone will help
7. If you still can't get it, go to SLEEP
8. REPEAT

A good friend asked me what it means to be “good” at something. How about these conditions?
1. The people you care for will not be ashamed when you do it.
2. The people who care for you will not have to lie to find words of praise.
3. You yourself, in absolute honesty, could say that you couldn’t do better. (Not generally, but at that particular moment in time and space.)
4. An amateur will be awed or inspired by what you did.

What's a good place for a tattoo that keeps reminding you? Base of the thumb?

The audacity of the thing. Yes, it’s right, it just needs to clarify the two notes out of three it got wrong. All three are wrong, it's G#-C#-E (Google's Gemini got it right – this time).
Remember this when you next use ChatGPT & Co to get information: this type of machine does not know what right is. And if it suspects it was wrong, its main objective will be to hide this from you.
10 years ago I was checking sources of info on Wikipedia, today I'm using Reddit to counter AI deceit (the cute hallucination branding was a mega-strong marketing move 👏). 10 years from now, will we be bringing goats to a Wise Woman?

If you're using books to feed a fire, it doesn't matter what the books say.

I bet the tech world is what it is today because too many teenagers in the 90ies made a wish to spend their nights ****ing with models.

And if your problems look nothing like a maze, start by making a map – they will.

Problem Solving with Mazes and Crayon — LessWrong
I want to talk about a few different approaches to general problem solving (for humans). It turns out that they can all be applied to mazes, so I’ll…

The Anula tribe of Northern Australia associate the dollar-bird with rain, and call it the rain-bird. A man who has the bird for his totem can make rain at a certain pool. He catches a snake, puts it alive into the pool, and after holding it under water for a time takes it out, kills it, and lays it down by the side of the creek. Then he makes an arched bundle of grass stalks in imitation of a rainbow, and sets it up over the snake. After that all he does is to sing over the snake and the mimic rainbow; sooner or later the rain will fall. Frazer, The Golden Bough
That last sentence (emphasis mine) is probably my favorite in the entire written literature.
