Siachen Glacier | All you need to know about!

๐Ÿ”ฐ The Siachen Glacier is located in the Eastern Karakoram range in the Himalayas, just northeast of Point NJ9842 where the Line of Control between India and Pakistan ends.

๐Ÿ”ฐ It is the Second-Longest glacier in the World's Non-Polar areas.

๐Ÿ”ธ Fedchenko Glacier, located in Yazgulem Range, Tajikistan is the Longest glacier in the World's Non-Polar areas.

๐Ÿ”ฐ The Siachen Glacier lies immediately south of the great drainage divide that separates the Eurasian Plate from the Indian subcontinent in the extensively glaciated portion of the Karakoram sometimes called the "Third Pole".

๐Ÿ”ฐ The Siachen Glacier is part of Ladakh which has now been converted into a Union Territory.

๐Ÿ”ฐ The Siachen Glacier is the world's highest battlefield.

๐Ÿ”ฐ The entire Siachen Glacier has been under the administration/territory of India since 1984 (Operation Meghdoot).

โœ…Signing ceremony of MoU for the construction of the Lalandar โ€œShatootโ€ Dam in Afghanistan.

โœ…The dam would come upon the Maidan river tributary of Kabul river.

โœ… The project is a part of the New Development Partnership between India and Afghanistan.

โœ…The dam will provide irrigation, drinking water for the Kabul province of the country.

โœ…This is the second major dam being built by India in Afghanistan, after the

Red Sea


โ–ช๏ธ It (also the Erythraean Sea) is a seawater inlet of the Indian Ocean, lying between Africa and Asia.

โ–ช๏ธ The connection to the ocean is in the south through the Bab el Mandeb strait and the Gulf of Aden.

โ–ช๏ธ To the north lie the Sinai Peninsula, the Gulf of Aqaba, and the Gulf of Suez (leading to the Suez Canal).

Eastern shore: Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Israel and Jordan (border Gulf of Aqaba)
Western shore: Egypt, Sudan, Eritrea

โ€Sibsagar (Sivasagar) Lakeโ€

โ–กSibsagar Lake is an artificial lake which was built by Queen Ambika, wife of King Shiva Singha, in the year 1734

โ–ก It is located in Sivasagar town in Assam, India

โ–ก The lake was commissioned by the Ahom king Siva Singha.

โ–ก The lake is surrounded by the Dehing rainforest, where the Dihing (Brahmaputra) and Lohit rivers meet.

Dodital Lake

โ–ช๏ธ Dodital is a freshwater lake in uttarkashi district, Uttarakhand, India, situated at a height of 9,921 ft.

โ–ช๏ธ Assi ganga river rises from dodital and joins bhagirathi. The confluence is at Gangotri

โ–ช๏ธ According to one of the popular legends Lord Ganesha chose this place as his abode.

โ–ช๏ธ There is a temple devoted to Lord Ganesha here. Another name for this lake is 'Dhundital' meaning Ganesh ka tal or lake of Ganesha.

Sardar Sarovar Dam
