ยฌ named after Sir Francis Drake: 1st Englishman to circumnavigate globe.

ยฌ both collide to form powerful "eddies".
ยฌ Such eddies combine with strong winds, storms = treacherous for those attempting to navigate it.
2019: 6 rovers from 4 countries, crossed Drake Passage
= a new Guinness World Records (GWR).
2018: an all-woman Indian Navy team on INS Tarini also successfully crossed Passage.

โช๏ธIndus Waters Treaty
โช๏ธThe Indus system comprises of main Indus River, Jhelum, Chenab, Ravi, Beas and Sutlej.
โช๏ธThe basin is mainly shared by India and Pakistan with a small share for China and Afghanistan.
โช๏ธUnder the treaty signed between India and Pakistan in 1960, all the waters of three rivers, namely Ravi,Sutlej and Beas ( Eastern Rivers) were allocated to India for exclusive use.
โช๏ธWhile, the waters of Western rivers - Indus, Jhelum, and Chenab were allocated to Pakistan except for specified domestic , non-consumptive and agricultural use permitted to India as provided in the Treaty.
โช๏ธIndia has also been given the right to generate hydroelectricity through run of the river(RoR) projects on the Western Rivers which, subject to specific criteria for design and operation is unrestricted.

Danakil Depression
โพ๏ธBelongs to northern part of Afar Triangle or Afar Depression in Ethiopia
โพ๏ธ It is a geological depression formed as a result of divergence of three tectonic plates in Horn of Africa region
โพ๏ธ It is the hottest place on Earth in terms of year-round average temperatures
โพ๏ธ Fossils of ancient Hominis like that of Lucy (Australopithecus), etc. were found here
โพ๏ธ The area is also famous for Salt Mining
โพ๏ธ Magnesium-dominated brines (that cause cells to break down) and an environment with simultaneously very low pH and high salt makes the area uninhabitable to any lifeform
